Description: Utah Transit Authority’s bus route system as of August 28, 2018. This includes routes that have been adjusted for reliability and monitoring purposes. Also included are ski bus routes to the Cottonwood Canyons and Sundance Ski Resort. This data is digitized to Wasatch Front counties’ street base maps then exported from a scheduling software, Trapeze, in shapefile format. Projected in NAD_1983_UTM_Zone_12N.
Description: The statewide roads dataset is maintained by AGRC in partnership with local governments, the Utah 911 Committee, and UDOT. This dataset is updated monthly with Davis, Salt Lake, Utah, Washington and Weber represented every month, along with additional counties based on an annual update schedule. AGRC obtains the data from the authoritative data source (typically county agencies), projects the data and attributes into the current data model, spatially assigns polygon-based fields based on the appropriate SGID boundary, and then standardizes the attribute values to ensure statewide consistency. AGRC also generates a UNIQUE_ID field based on the segment's location in the US National Grid, with the street name then tacked on. The UNIQUE_ID field is static and is AGRC's current, ad hoc solution to a persistent global id. More information about the data model can be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jQ_JuRIEtzxj60F0FAGmdu5JrFpfYBbSt3YzzCjxpfI/edit#gid=811360546 More information about the data model transition can be found here: https://gis.utah.gov/major-updates-coming-to-roads-data-model/

Description: This data set represents historic trails/routes used by different explorers and settlers in Utah as digitized by the National Park Service and the Automated Geographic Reference Center. Trails were captured at scales of 1:100,000-500,000 and represent the location/route of current consensus by historians. Trails captured by the NPS are part of a broader management plan intended to support diverse trail activities including planning, management, research, and interpretation.
Description: This data set represents the extent, approximate location and type of wetlands and deepwater habitats in the United States and its Territories. These data delineate the areal extent of wetlands and surface waters as defined by Cowardin et al. (1979). The National Wetlands Inventory - Version 2, Surface Waters and Wetlands Inventory was derived by retaining the wetland and deepwater polygons that compose the NWI digital wetlands spatial data layer and reintroducing any linear wetland or surface water features that were orphaned from the original NWI hard copy maps by converting them to narrow polygonal features. Additionally, the data are supplemented with hydrography data, buffered to become polygonal features, as a secondary source for any single-line stream features not mapped by the NWI and to complete segmented connections. Wetland mapping conducted in WA, OR, CA, NV and ID after 2012 and most other projects mapped after 2015 were mapped to include all surface water features and are not derived data. The linear hydrography dataset used to derive Version 2 was the U.S. Geological Survey's National Hydrography Dataset (NHD). Specific information on the NHD version used to derive Version 2 and where Version 2 was mapped can be found in the 'comments' field of the Wetlands_Project_Metadata feature class. Certain wetland habitats are excluded from the National mapping program because of the limitations of aerial imagery as the primary data source used to detect wetlands. These habitats include seagrasses or submerged aquatic vegetation that are found in the intertidal and subtidal zones of estuaries and near shore coastal waters. Some deepwater reef communities (coral or tuberficid worm reefs) have also been excluded from the inventory. These habitats, because of their depth, go undetected by aerial imagery. By policy, the Service also excludes certain types of "farmed wetlands" as may be defined by the Food Security Act or that do not coincide with the Cowardin et al. definition. Contact the Service's Regional Wetland Coordinator for additional information on what types of farmed wetlands are included on wetland maps. This dataset should be used in conjunction with the Wetlands_Project_Metadata layer, which contains project specific wetlands mapping procedures and information on dates, scales and emulsion of imagery used to map the wetlands within specific project boundaries.
Description: This trails map layer represents off-road recreational trail features and important road connections that augment Utah’s recreational trail network. This map layer features many of Utah’s recreational trails but is not yet complete. Currently, the trails information primary depicts trails used by hiking and mountain biker users. It began with map data purchased from a private entity (Orbital View, Inc), for which full rights were purchased by the GOED Office of Outdoor Recreation in July 2014. Since the original purchase, subsequent substantive updates have included: 2014 Revisions from National Park service; 2015 additions from Emery County; June 2016 additions from Cache County US Forest Service Geodata Hub (all forests except Sawtooth in NW Box Elder County), and Mountainland Association of Governments (Utah and Wasatch counties). Additional trails can be submitted to Utah AGRC for inclusion in this map layer. The primary goal for the trails map layer is to assign a location and a name to each trail feature. However, the trails data is stored within a more complex data model that will allow for collection and publishing of more robuts trail and trailhead information in the future: (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OPGKmRrLYUBr9qO9EtbX6AwcRla82xMvc-BDr26ia9k/edit#gid=0) Currently important attributes are: * Primary Name * CartoCode - used for cartographic representation. (summary info as of April 2017): 1 = Hiking Only (3760 miles, 1888 features)2 = Singletrack, Hiking and Bicycles Allowed (5748 miles, 3944 features) 3 = Paved Recreational Trail (696 miles, 2836 features) 4 = Road-concurrent trail (15,112 miles, 8515 features) * Data Source Although it is a work in progress, this dataset represents a substantial starting point to integrate additional trail systems from other local, state, and federal agencies. The success of this effort will rely heavily on local government and land stewards to review and continue to improve upon this data. Note: Presently, the planned approach for on street bicycle lanes and routes is to incorporate them in the the statewide roads GIS layer using left and right side attributes. On street bike infrastructure is not expected to be represented in this map layer.

Description: The Utah Geological Survey Quaternary Fault and Fold Database and Map of Utah is a compilation of existing information on faults and fault-related folds considered to be potential earthquake sources (i.e., “active” faults and folds). The faults and folds contained in the database are those considered to have been sources of large earthquakes (about magnitude 6.5 or greater) during the Quaternary Period (past 2.6 million years); these geologic structures are the most likely sources of large earthquakes in the future. The database is intended to be a comprehensive source of the most current information available for characterizing active faults and folds in Utah for seismic-hazard analysis. This version of the database incorporates fault data from geologic maps and other documents formally published through 2013, along with several additional faults. More information on faults and earthquake hazards in Utah is available at http://geology.utah.gov/hazards/earthquakes-faults/utah-faults.The database was compiled and attributed using ESRI ArcGIS geographic information system software. In general, the database attribute conventions follow those of the Quaternary Fault and Fold Database of the United States maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

Description: Feature Classes are loaded onto tablet PCs and Field crews are sent to label the crop or land cover type and irrigation method for a subset of select fields or polygons. Each tablet PC is attached to a GPS unit for real-time tracking to continuously update the field crew’s location during the field labeling process. Digitizing is done as Geodatabase feature classes using ArcMap 10.X with NAIP or Google imagery as a background with other layers added for reference. Updates to existing field boundaries of individual agricultural fields, urban areas and more are precisely digitized. Changes in irrigation type and land use are noted during this process.Cropland Data Layer (CDL) rasters from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) are downloaded for the appropriate year. https://nassgeodata.gmu.edu/CropScape/Zonal Statistics geoprocessing tools are used to attribute the polygons with updated crop types from the CDL. The data is then run through several stages of comparison to historical inventories and quality checking in order to determine and produce the final attributes.LUID -Unique ID number for each polygon in the final dataset, matches object.Landuse - Land use type, similar to land cover and represents our own categories of how the land is used.CropGroup - Groupings of broader crop categories to allow easy access to or query of all orchard or grain types etc.Description - Attribute that describes/indicates the various crop types and land use types determined by the GIS process.IRR_Method - Crop Irrigation Methods.Acres - Calculated acreage of the polygon.State - Spatial intersection identifying the State where the polygons are found.County - Spatial intersection identifying the County where the polygons are found.Basin - Spatial intersection identifying the Basin where the polygons are found. Basins, or Utah Hydrologic Basins are large watersheds created by DWRe.SubArea - Spatial intersection identifying the Subarea where the polygons are found. Subareas are subdivisions of the larger hydrologic basins created by DWRe.Label_Class - Combination of Label and Class_Name fields created during processing that indicates specific cover and use types.LABEL - Old shorthand descriptive label for each crop and irrigation type or land use type.Class_Name - Zonal Statistics majority value derived from the USDA CDL Cropscape raster layer, may differ from final crop determination.OldLanduse - This is the old short code found under landuse in past datasets and is kept to maintain connectivity with historical data.LU_Group - These codes represent some in-house groupings that are useful for symbology and other summarizing.SURV_YEAR - Indicates which year/growing season the data represents. Is useful when comparing to past layers.

Description: SGID10.LOCATION.Buildings was derived from building footprints generated by Microsoft for all 50 States https://github.com/Microsoft/USBuildingFootprints In some cases the pixel prediction algorithm used by Microsoft identified and created building footprints where no buildings existed. To flag potential errors, building footprints within 750 meters of known populated areas (SGID10.DEMOGRAPHIC.PopBlockAreas2010_Approx) and within 500 meters of an address point (SGID10.LOCATION.AddressPoints) were selected and indentified as being a likely structure, footprints falling outside these areas were identified as possible buildings in the 'TYPE' field. In addition, attributes were added for address, city, county, and zip where possible.
